ATM and Internet Protocol  -
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is a protocol that allows data, sound and video being transferred between independent networks via ISDN links to be supplied to, and interpreted by, the various system protocols. ATM and Internet Protocol explains the working of the ATM and B-ISDN network for readers with a basic understanding of telecommunications. It provides a handy reference to everyone working with ATM who may not require the full standards in detail, but need a comprehensive guide to ATM. A substantial section is devoted to the problems of running IP over ATM and there is some discussion of Frame Relay. A pragmatic introduction to the ATM and IP standards The latest practical approaches to running IP over ATM A comprehensive telecommunications glossary

Ipv6 The New Internet Protocol -
The complete guide to the final IPv6 standard: the fundamental infrastructure solution to the internet's shrinking available bandwidth. -- Shows how to simplify the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 -- including "plug-and-play"programming techniques. -- Covers essential issues of security, as well as Mobile IP and IP multicasting under IPv6. -- By the former head of the Internet Architecture Board, and the author of the classic Routing in the Internet. This is the complete insider's guide to the official IPv6 standard that will dramatically increase the amount of bandwidth available on the Internet. The Internet is running out of bandwidth. The solution is the new IPv6 protocol, which has just been finalized. In this book, Christian Huitema -- who helped develop the IPv6 standard -- discusses it in detail, showing how its addressing structures and resource allocation techniques help solve the problem. The book provides thorough coverage of IPv6 routing; discusses transition issues; and shows how professionals can autoconfigure the new protocol, eliminating tedious programming. It also includes special coverage of security issues, and shows how to use IPv6 in mobile communications, real-time transmissions, and multicasting (Internet broadcasting).

Ospf Anatomy of an Internet Routing Protocol -
Routing is what makes the Internet tick, and is one of the most significant networking technologies today. Part I of this book defines Internet routing in general, and discusses a variety of protocols in addition to OSPF. As an introduction to Internet routing, Moy describes both unicast and multicast routing protocols, along with the techniques to monitor and debug routing in a TCP/IP network. This will be very valuable to a large audience. Part II then delves into the details of one particular routing protocol -- the OSPF protocol. This book provides a detailed description of OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), which was developed by the author. The book explains why OSPF was developed and how it greatly improves network efficiency. It will help engineers to be able to get a better understanding of how to efficiently implement algorithms used in OSPF. It provides a good understanding of how the protocol operates. Each chapter contains exercises to help readers with the subject. This book is unique as it is an up-to-date look at the important topic of routing -- plus it provides the most detail on OSPF available. OSPF is very widely deployed in the Internet, with OSPF implementations offered by virtually all router vendors.

The Wireless Application Protocol Writing Applications for the Mobile Internet -
The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) will liberate the Web from wires, enabling anywhere/anytime access to virtually any data or application. In this book, leaders of the WAP standards process present the most complete discussion of the new WAP 1.1 standards, architecture, specification, and application development. This book gives decision-makers the information they need to plan strategies, and developers the information they need to build solutions -- starting today. It begins with an overview of WAP 1.1, describing the motivation behind the standards, and the relationships between each component of the WAP specification. Next, it discusses each component, covering fundamental design principles and operations. The book delivers in-depth guidance for developing WAP applications, covering user interface design, push messaging, the XML-based Wireless Markup Language (WML), scripting with WMLScript and WTAI, and more.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Security  -
Voice Over Internet Protocol Security has been designed to help the reader fully understand, prepare for and mediate current security and QoS risks in today's complex and ever changing converged network environment and it will help you secure your VoIP network whether you are at the planning, implementation, or post-implementation phase of your VoIP infrastructure. * This book will teach you how to plan for and implement VoIP security solutions in converged network infrastructures. Whether you have picked up this book out of curiosity or professional interest . . . it is not too late to read this book and gain a deep understanding of what needs to be done in a VoIP implementation. * In the rush to be first to market or to implement the latest and greatest technology, many current implementations of VoIP infrastructures, both large and small, have been implemented with minimal thought to QoS and almost no thought to security and interoperability.

TCP/IP JumpStart Internet Protocol Basics -
TCP/IP is the de facto protocol of the Internet, and this protocol is supported by every major network operating system. As more organizations and individuals connect networks and computers to the Internet and one another, there is a growing demand for professionals to have a thorough understanding of this protocol suite. TCP/IP JumpStart Second Edition will explain the fundamentals of TCP/IP in simple terms with tangible examples. New for this edition: updates on Windows XP/2000, Dynamic DNS, CIDR, and subnetting.

Investigation of Strategies for Transition from Ipv4 to Ipv6  -
Protocol transitions are challenging and are not easy especially when we talk about the transition of Internet Protocol version 4 to Internet Protocol version 6. This might be a bit simple in case of small network but really challenging in huge networks. This book shows research on a number of transition methods of IPv6 and problems associated with these existing transition mechanisms. Practical work on Tunnel Broker mechanism has been performed and experimented during this research. IPv6 performance was checked on a DHCPv6 server when it gives automatic IPv6 addresses to the clients, DHCPv6 clients when they receive IPv6 addresses from the server and at the tunnel broker when it creates a tunnel in the tunnel server for the client and sending relevant information back. Packet filtering has been done with IPv4 and IPv6.
